The Delegation of North Korean Medical Association visited He Eye Hospital on May 6th 2008. Vice-president of North Korean Medical Association, Jin Jingai, Minister of North Korean Medical Association, Zhang Yinyu, Director of North Korean Institute of Endocrine, Jin Zhengzhe, Researcher of North Korean Institute of Endocrine, Hanjin and directors of He Eye Hospital held a meeting to further promote academic exchanges and to train medical staff.
North Korean representatives were still very happy about the training program happened in 2007 through which five doctors from Pyongyang Lions Eye Hospital were trained in He Eye Hospital. Ms. Jin Jingai said that those five trainees were carefully selected and they had become the backbones of the hospital since they were back to the Pyongyang Lions Eye Hospital. Those five trainees spread their new techniques very quickly which enabled the general improvement of the service ability of the hospital.
North Korean delegation was deeply impressed by the excellent medical environment and rational layout of He Eye Hospital and especially surprised by the low-pay clinic. Jin Jingai commented that the free or low-pay policy enabled poor patients to receive the best medical service while those people were not covered by the Chinese Medical System. He Eye Hospital is ahead of other medical institutions for its free / low pay policy. Bringing brightness to the patients is a great career. She was deeply moved by He Eye Hospital.
The president of He Eye Hospital, Dr. He Xiangdong said that providing the equal opportunity for eye care service to everyone is the value of He Eye Hospital. Dr. He also explained that it was very important to stretch the level of services to meet different needs of patients. Moreover, while pursuing advanced technology, He Eye Hospital also provided common medical technology to the public at low price, even free. Moreover, He Eye Hospital provided a range of training courses for local and international medical staff at different levels.
