Set up Education and Training Center
Through education and training center to develop a multi-level network for disease prevention, eye care and clinical services.
The Three Levels of Eye care Edu-training:
- Level 1 (primary level)：Public & school education programs
- Level 2 (secondary level)：Grassroots training for medical and paramedical personnel
- Level 3 (tertiary level)：Professional training for ophthalmologists
Level 1 (primary level) :
Eye Care Education system for the general public and at school
- Principle- The best eye medicine is eye care knowledge.
- Passed out over three million free eye care information materials.
- Held three public lectures-over 1000 people in attendance each time.
- Held more than 105 smaller lectures.
- More than 15000 people benefited from free eye care education in all.
- Invited American ophthalmologist, prof. Gene Grace, to give more than 15 lectures on Eye.
Diseases Prevention and Treatment for community elderly members.
- Sight Volunteers Club, currently with 1469 members.
- These volunteers contribute by supporting public lectures, eye care awareness promotions, and free screening activities.
- Glaucoma Patients Club, total 668 members, new members of this year come to 528, and brought 642 OPD patients in year 2007.
- DR Patients Club, 1051 members in all. new members of this year come to 609, and brought 3446 OPD patients in year 2007.
He Eye Hospital-Yucai School Eye Care Education Scheme
- China’s first school eye care scheme, aimed at setting up feasible school-based eye care model for children aged 3-18.
- A collection of methods will be used in this project. Regular screening, eye care knowledge delivery for students, teachers and parents, training for school doctors, vision-correction games, amblyopia training CD and so on.

Professional Training for Ophthalmologists
- He College of Ophthalmology & Visual Science as the training base.
- Held 4 international academic conferences on Ophthalmic microsurgery.
- More than 20 national and international ophthalmologists attended those conferences.
- About 200 eye doctors from Liaoning Province participated and improved their skills.
- Methods used: lecture, surgery demonstration, wet lab, and so on.
He Eye Care System’s Capacity Building
- In 2006, sent 12 employees to be trained in LAICO, Aravind, India.
- April 1-16, 2006, invited 3 ARAVIND managers to provide consultancy on community outreach, IT system development, management.
- November 6-11, 2006, invited 1 consultant of Joseph Eye Hospital, India, for management training.
- April 9-14, 2007, invited 1 consultant of Joseph Eye Hospital, India, for management training.
