President He Wei awarded as Love Ambassador of Shanghai World Expo Life Sunlight Hall

2010 Shanghai World Expo initiated a Life Sunlight Hall, which reflected an internationalization and humanitarian spirit for the disabled persons. It is also a pioneering work since the opening of World Expo 159 years ago.
Chinese Disabled Person Federation (CDPF) conferred the title of Love Ambassador of Shanghai World Expo Life Sunlight Hall upon Dr. He Wei, chairman of He Eye Care System and president of He Eye Hospital, Shenyang, in recognition of his years of outstanding contribution to Chinese public welfare in blindness prevention and treatment. On the commendation ceremony of May 10, Dr. He Wei has presented 159 IOLs to China Blind Person Association (CBPA) and CBPA will send them to cataract patients in the western poverty-stricken areas for surgical treatment. They hope the restoring patients could also share the joy of Shanghai World Expo.

In order to celebrate the establishment of Shanghai World Expo Life Sunlight Hall, He Eye Hospital specially designed the first-day souvenir cover in Braille, and presented to the persons with visual disability during the period of Shanghai World Expo. It is also the first time in the history of World Expo to issue the first-day souvenir cover in Braille.

Dr. He Wei stated that He Eye Hospital has been committed to blindness prevention and treatment and social public welfare for years. The cooperation with Life Sunlight Hall reflected the sponsors’ full confirmation on HE’s contribution to blindness prevention and treatment. He also indicated that Love Ambassador of Shanghai World Expo Life Sunlight Hall is not only a glorious title, but a heavy responsbility and a new start for brightness. He will continue to lead his team to work at establishing a chinese-caracterized, accessible, sustainable and duplicable blindness prevention and treatment system. He Eye Hospital is willing to undertake more social responsbility and play an important role in Chinese blindness prevention and treatment. Meanwhile, he called on more people to join the cause of blindness prevention and treatment, and contribute to the creation of a harmonious society and realization of everyone preserving the right to sight.
