

On Dec.20th, Zhang Shuanglin and his family appeared on the project launch ceremony of The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People. Both Zhang Shuanglin and his child are the patients with congenital cataract. The annual income of the whole family less than RMB 2,000. Shenyang Chamber of Commerce and Shenyang He Eye Hospital provide the opportunity to his family of enjoying the light and their improved life.

On Dec.20th, on the ceremony, the poor patients who were donated to complete the cataract surgery, with the help of nurses from He Eye Hospital, were taken off the eye shield to regain the light.
On Dec.20th, sponsored by Shenyang Chamber of Commerce, co-organized by Shenyang He Eye Hospital and Shenyang TV Station, the Charity Launch Ceremony for “VISION 2020-- The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People, Village Action” were held in the performance hall of Shenyang TV Station.
“The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People, Village Action” is a large-scale charity project conducted by Shenyang Chamber of Commerce in 2007. The project is expected to raise the fund of RMB 3,000,000 during one year, to provide free vision-recovery surgery for the urban poor cataract patients who come from low-income families. So far, 1006 persons have restored their sight.
On the launch ceremony, li Zhuoran, who is Shenyang Municipal Vice-Chairman of CPPCC, and Chairman of Shenyang Chamber of Commerce, declared the opening of the second phase of the “The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People, Village Action”, which aimed at raising the fund of RMB 3,000,000 during one year, to provide free surgery for 1000 rural cataract patients. Dr Richard Le Mesurier, the chair of West Pacific Region IAPB, attended this launch ceremony and delivered his high recognition to this project that IAPB will pay constant attention on this project.
Dr. Wei He, who is the co-chair of West Pacific Region IAPB, and vice chairman of Shenyang Chamber of Commerce, president of Shenyang He Eye Hospital, introduced that in response to “VISION 2020-The Right to Sight” global initiative which jointly launched by WHO and IAPB, Shenyang Chamber of Commerce, Shenyang He Eye Hospital, and Vision Care Foundation jointly developed the phase one of “The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People”, which will raise fund during one year to provide the free cataract surgery for 1000 poor patients who come from low-income families. So far, the estimated objective in the phase one of “The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People” has been over fulfilled. In order to benefit more rural people, Shenyang Chamber of Commerce, Shenyang He Eye Hospital, and Vision Care Foundation will make the phase two of “The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People, Village Action”
Dr. Wei He indicated that “The Sight Saving Project for 1000 People” is a moral project with boundless love, and is also a grand almsdeed with loving heart building a harmonious society. Feathered by internationalization and high-tech, Shenyang He Eye Hospital will completely devote itself into this great career.
On the ceremony, the poor patients who were donated to receive cataract surgery , with the help of nurses from He Eye Hospital, were removed the eye shield to regain their sight.
