
From July 22 to 24, 2010 Ministry of Health (MOH) and NGO Blindness Prevention and Treatment Coordination Meeting has been held in Shenyang.
On the morning of July 24, over 30 representatives from MOH, CDPF, International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), NGO, and provincial health departments visited He College of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
First of all, the delegation visited the construction area of China Eye Industry Base, where guests learned that China Eye Industry Base is a high-tech R & D platform with the integration of production, education and research, relying on biological materials and bio-pharmaceuticals, and based on ophthalmic biopharmaceutical technology. It comprises seven buildings, including IOL manufacturing plant, freeze-dried amniotic membrane workshop, and etc. It is expected to be put into use by the end of 2010.

Subsequently, the delegation visited the He College campus. It is the second visit for Dr. Tan Leshan, FHF chief representative for China and he had deep feelings about the development and changes of He College in the past two years, he said, "two years ago, He College was just surrounded by several small villages, with the narrow and bumpy roads. But today, it has many new buildings with beautiful campus scenery and the traffic condition is also greatly improved."
